Karen Chen
Director of Finance

Karen Chen is the Director of Finance at Capricorn. Prior to Capricorn, Karen was the Finance Director for National Press Photographers Association, and Senior Accountant at Rothstein Kass. Karen received a BS in Health Administration and a Master’s in Accounting from the University of North Carolina.


Dawnae Dodds

Dawnae Dodds is the Chief Compliance Officer at Capricorn. Prior to Capricorn, Dawnae served as a Program Manager with NES Financial Corp, a financial services firm. Prior to NES, Dawnae held senior accountant positions with law firms such as Heller Ehrman and Venture Law Group. Dawnae received her BA in Business Economics with an emphasis in Accounting from the University of California, Santa Barbara.



William Orum is Partner and Managing Director at Capricorn Investment Group. William leads marketable investment strategies and oversees asset allocation and risk management in the portfolio. Prior to Capricorn, William worked as an investment banker in Merrill Lynch’s global industries group in Palo Alto. William received a BA in Political Science from Amherst College and an MBA with specialization in finance and economics from the NYU Stern School of Business, both with honors.


Mandira Reddy

Mandira Reddy is Director of Direct Investment Analytics at Capricorn Investment Group. Prior to Capricorn, Mandira served as a Portfolio Manager for Intel Capital and a Corporate Finance Analyst for Intel. She holds an MS in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from T.A. Pai Management Institute in India. Mandira is also a CFA charterholder.


Dipender Saluja
Partner & Managing Director

Dipender Saluja is Partner and Managing Director at Capricorn Investment Group. Dipender oversees investments in energy technology, clean tech, and IT. Prior to Capricorn, Dipender was Chief of Staff at Cadence, a global market leader in electronic design, where he built and managed businesses that worked closely with the leading electronics companies around the world. Dipender is also President and CEO of Automatiks Inc, a Capricorn portfolio company developing electronic connectivity platforms for electric & hybrid vehicles, storage and smart grids. He is an electrical & computer engineer by training, and attended UND, the University of Minnesota, and Stanford.


Eric Techel
Partner & CFO

Eric Techel is Partner and Chief Financial Officer at Capricorn Investment Group. Eric oversees firm-wide finance and investment operations. Prior to Capricorn, Eric was a Senior Manager with Deloitte & Touche and a member of the Special Acquisition Services Team, performing due diligence services for potential acquisitions and existing portfolio companies of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. Eric is a CPA and received his BA in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles.


Barry Uphoff
Partner & Managing Principal

Barry Uphoff is the Managing Principal and founder of CHSO and Partner at Capricorn Investment Group. Prior to joining Capricorn, Barry was a senior investment professional at Silver Point Capital, a Greenwich, CT-based hedge fund, leading their private-side healthcare investment activities and served on the firm’s deal review committee. Prior to Silver Point, Barry was a director with Trivest and a partner with Diamond Management Consultants. Barry earned his BA from the Johns Hopkins University with highest honors and Phi Beta Kappa distinction. Barry read for a Diploma in Law and an MSc in Medicine at Oxford University under the auspices of a Rhodes Scholarship. Barry also received an MBA from the University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business with highest honors.



Dr. Ion Yadigaroglu is Partner and Managing Principal at Capricorn Investment Group. Ion oversees investment activities, with an emphasis on direct investments and proprietary strategies. Prior to Capricorn, Ion was a Director of Business Development (M&A) with Koch Industries, executing a range of acquisitions and investments. Prior to Koch, he was a founder and Chief Executive Officer at Bivio, a software business in Colorado, and an Analyst for Olsen & Associates, a foreign exchange trading house. Ion was a research fellow at Columbia University and holds a Masters in Physics from Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich in Switzerland and a Ph.D. in Astrophysics from Stanford University.
